CODARTS University of the Arts presenteert met trots An Evening with Martha Graham, ter ere van het 100-jarig jubileum van de Martha Graham Dance Company.
Voor het eerst in de geschiedenis van Codarts bundelen de afdelingen Dans en Klassieke Muziek hun krachten om het werk van deze iconische legende te presenteren.
Het programma bestaat uit repertoire van Martha Graham, uitgevoerd door dansers van de dansafdeling, met live muziek uitgevoerd door het Codarts Symphony Orchestra.
De volgende werken worden uitgevoerd:
Diversion of Angels, dat op 13 augustus 1948 in première ging, met muziek van Norman Dello Joio;
Acts of Light, dat op 26 februari 1981 in première ging, met muziek van Carl Nielsen; en
Maple Leaf Rag, dat op 2 oktober 1990 in première ging, met muziek van Scott Joplin. Dit was het laatste voltooide ballet van Martha Graham.
Dit evenement biedt een unieke kans om het legendarische werk van de pionier van de moderne dans te beleven, uitgevoerd met live muziek – een ervaring die je niet mag missen.
De voorstelling wordt ingestudeerd door Mario Camacho, voormalig solist van de Martha Graham Dance Company, en gedirigeerd door de internationaal gelauwerde Sander Teepen.
CODARTS University of Arts is proud to present An Evening with Martha Graham in honour of the Martha Graham Dance Company’s 100-year anniversary.
For the first time in the history of Codarts, its Dance and Classical Music Departments will come together to present the work of this iconic legend.
The program will offer Graham repertory, works performed by dancers of the Dance Department, and live music performed by the Codarts Symphony Orchestra.
The pieces to be performed are:
Diversion of Angels, which premiered on August 13, 1948, with music composed by Norman Dello Jolo;
Acts of Light, which premiered on February 26, 1981, with music composed by Carl Nielsen; and
Maple Leaf Rag, which premiered on October 2, 1990, with music composed by Scott Joplin. This was Martha Graham’s last completed ballet.
This event will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience the legendary work of the pioneer of Modern Dance with live music, not to be missed!
Staged by Mario Camacho, former principal dancer of the Marta Graham Dance Company and conducted by internationally acclaimed Sander Teepen.
