Meet one of the world’s leading experts on Europe: Timothy Garton Ash. He will give a lecture to mark the publication of his new book Europe in 7½ Chapters: The Shortest Introduction to the Oldest and Newest Continent in the World.
Confidence in the international order that emerged after the Second World War is under pressure. Europe is facing major challenges.
Now more than ever, it is important to understand Europe better. The continent’s history, geography, culture, and politics are deeply interconnected and have a profound impact on our daily lives.
Drawing on a lifetime of experience in European politics and journalism, Garton Ash takes stock of Europe today. He begins with an outsider’s perspective, examining the legacy of colonialism and cultural dominance. He then explores Europe’s achievements, the tensions that define the continent, and the question of what its future may hold.
