Word Becomes Flesh

We sluiten Breakin’ Convention Rotterdam af met de presentatie van een uniek makerstraject: Word Becomes Flesh. Zes makers ontwikkelen in een week tijd een korte showcase die movement en spoken word combineren. Ze worden hierbij gecoacht door artistiek leider van Breakin Convention Jonzi D en Rotterdamse choreograaf Sheree Lenting.

Jonzi D’s wereldberoemde internationale festival voor hiphopdanstheater neemt Rotterdam over van 12 t/m 15 november 2026.

Vier dagen lang verandert de stad in het mondiale ontmoetingspunt voor hiphopcultuur – van theater tot battles, van DJ’s tot spoken word. In Nieuwe Luxor, Theater Rotterdam en Theater Zuidplein komen internationale iconen en lokale stemmen samen in één gedeelde ruimte: het podium, de vloer, de cypher. Met enkele van de meest prestigieuze crews ter wereld, lokaal talent, jamsessies en workshops.

We close Breakin’ Convention Rotterdam with the presentation of a unique maker trajectory: Word Becomes Flesh. Over the course of a week, six makers will develop a short showcase combining movement and spoken word. They will be coached by Breakin Convention artistic director Jonzi D and Rotterdam choreographer Sheree Lenting.

Breakin’ Convention

Jonzi D’s world famous international festival of hip hop dance theatre, takes over Rotterdam from 12-15 November 2026. 

For four days, the city becomes the global meeting point for hip hop culture - from theatre to battles, from DJs to spoken word. Across Nieuwe Luxor, Theater Rotterdam and Theater Zuidplein international icons and local voices come together in one shared space: the stage, the floor, the cypher. Featuring some of the most prestigious crews from around the world to local talents, jam sessions and workshops.
